Eric Chen

This is Eric Chen, originally from China. I am currently an international student studying Fine Arts at the University of Calgary. I worked with different mediums such as painting, photography and woodwork. Different stories I’ve encountered in different places are the main inspiration for my creation; I use the creation of art pieces to express my passion and emotion I’ve encountered in life. Essentially I am using different mediums to appreciate the world and being graceful for my life, and I hope to communicate with people who have a similar understanding to explore life together. I took the opportunity of woodwork class in high school at Winnipeg and developed my interest in light and shadow by creating sculptural lamps. Due to accessibility to a woodshop in university, I extend this interest in exploring values in 2D mediums. Thus I submitted my best performances in university using values to express emotion, hoping to communicate among people with the same interests.
