The Pumphouse Theatre is pleased to showcase 22 beautiful pieces by 9 very talented emerging Albertan visual artists. On until June 24th, the exhibit features the work of Leslie Gallacher, Jodi Fuhrer, Cindy Collins, Tara Johnson, Laura McManus, Patricia Meszaros, Larissa Hauck, Elise Mullen, and Sophia Lengle.
It is the Pumphouse theatre’s ongoing goal to provide a venue for increased exposure to local artists, and all pieces are for sale with 100% of the sale price going to the artists.

Due to the structure of the employment grants received by the Pumphouse Theatre, applicants currently enrolled as post-secondary students and continuing their education in the fall of 2017 will have an advantage.

The Pumphouse Theatre has presented the Calgary Region One-Act Play Festival (with the Alberta Drama Festival Association) for over 30 years and we are excited to do so again! Registration will open for 12 spots on a first-come, first-serve basis on November 16, 2016. The Festival will be held March 22nd – 25th, 2017 in the Victor Mitchell Theatre.
One play is chosen by a professional adjudicator to represent Calgary at the Provincial One Act Festival. Each of those chosen plays receives traveling expenses or a grant to assist in funding their participation in the Provincial Festival.
All registrations must be submitted in person with a completed registration form and a $60 non-refundable registration fee.
The performing group is responsible for royalty payments. A letter confirming permission from the publisher or playwright must be included.
A clean copy of the script must be included. Photocopies will only be accepted for an original script. NOTE: A script can be submitted after the deadline, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements.
Make cheques payable to the Pumphouse Theatres Society.
Participants who are members of CAEA, ACTRA, or IATSE are not eligible to participate in their professional vocation.
Plays must be one act in length. Performances between 10 and 60 minutes. No excerpts.
Each group is responsible for supplying its own technicians for stage management and light and sound operation. We can provide training to operators.
Each show must be set up in 10 minutes and struck in 5 minutes.
Casts shall be predominantly adult and from CALGARY.
Awards & prizes presented for: Outstanding Production, Outstanding Director, Outstanding Female/Male Actor, Outstanding Technical Merit, and Outstanding Original Script!
Registration will close when all slots are filled or by January 30th, 2017.

The Pumphouse Theatre is a vibrant facility with historical significance supporting and presenting all art forms; and creating opportunities for engagement, enrichment, cultural experience, learning and inspiration serving all Calgarians. The PTS Art Gallery provides accessible wall display space for Calgary and Alberta visual artists to display and sell their work, free from commission.
Submissions must meet the following requirements:
Artist resides in Alberta and must be available for installation.
Artist must be an Emerging Artist, defined as being active 5 years or less in the industry.
Artwork must be delivered ready to hang (wall-space only)
Installation Requirements: All art should be equipped with picture hanging wire or appropriately placed D or Triangle ring hanger. Frames less than 9/16” depth with no attachment can typically be accommodated.

Selection Process: Art pieces are selected by a committee of no less than 3 people and are a mix of artists and administrators. Selection criteria is based on: suitability to the theme, artist’s technique, elicited emotional response, creativity & innovation, and suitability for the Pumphouse Theatre art gallery space and its patrons (ages 8-80 representing various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds)
