Vivian Smith

Vivian Smith is a 3rd year Alberta University of the Arts student living in Mohkinstsis (Calgary). After working for 24 years as an engineer in Calgary’s oil and gas sector, she decided to explore her creative side and enrolled in art school. She works primarily in ceramics and painting with an emphasis on form and colour. Her current practice and research are focused on the influence of society on identity, particularly in reference to the older woman. Older women are often overlooked and not included in the mainstream discourse. Vivian challenges stereotypes and highlights the experiences and wisdom older women offer.
