Jules Schacter

Jules Schacter is a twenty-year-old female student at the University of Calgary, as well as a self-taught artist. She currently is in her third year of a combined Bachelor of Visual Studies and Education. Jules has been passionate about art for as long as she can remember and being able to have a career in her field of study is a dream come true. Jules’ current practice heavily revolves around both feminism and nature. Growing up, she experienced first-hand the way that women are treated in our society. Her art aims to tell the stories of what she has experienced herself as a woman, as well as the stories of other women. A common symbol in Jules’ art is the use of the female body, reclaiming it from the traditional patriarchal use in art. She likes to create art that women can relate to, and not for the male gaze.
