Dave Waddington has lived in Calgary for over 50 years, having immigrated from the UK in the early 70’s.
While he has always been drawing he became fascinated with pastels through a continuing education program at Mount Royal University and has been working with this medium almost exclusively for at least 15 years. He particularly enjoys both trying to capture the figure and the endless opportunities offered by the Alberta landscape.
He has pursued a variety of workshops and programs – through the Alberta University of the Arts ,Atelier Artista and Kensington Art locally, and Dakota Pastels in Mt Vernon, Washington He has held a solo exhibition with the Calgary Public Library as part of their ‘Art in the Community’ series as well as regularly participating in the biannual Palette Art Show and Winter Art show at C-Space, offered by the Calgary Community Painters Society of which he is a member. His work is in several private collections here, in the US and UK.
