I.M Kalcounis

I am an outsider to the communities of artist, neighbor, work environment, family. I as an outsider artist is and feels only free, for sure, creating picture art of what is mostly cherished objects and moments. Cherished objects drawn in the process of mostly pencil work, where i am able to remember my 9 lives and all the loss of again where my loss is grave. 

I am relieved to make records of stuff as sketch so. I can honor things. ofmy life when nobody has cared to talk or engage with me at all, so I engage with myself in objects and images closer to me than people. My life is worthwhile only by deep observation of beautiful things and animals in my home and urban street animals aiming and acting always for their survival. Realism is my mostly self taught technique whereby I have a bit of knack to make my drawings wafting in a kind of self portrait within images that actually aren’t me. 

As a person by which society isolates and forces me a recluse I have a good understanding on drawing birds (maybe wishing for their capacity to fly) and as a middle age woman who was crushed into pieces by love I also find personal compassion with myself drawing male and female ways in natures as well as in humanity. I find personal honesty in drawing men and woman in space (the paper) together. 

I was a well known dancer, I have taken minimal night classes in drawing from the Alberta College of Art and Design Loop
