Saloni Sharma

Saloni Sharma is a Calgary-based visual artist and community art instructor, originally from India, with a background in Interior Design. Her practice blends traditional craft with contemporary sustainability, transforming recycled materials such as wastepaper, textiles, fabric, and natural dyes into handmade paper, vessels, wall hangings, and installations.

Inspired by Indian folk traditions, nature, and personal memories, Saloni’s work reflects her journey as an immigrant and her exploration of home, belonging, and healing through the creative process. Since moving to Canada, she has been active in the community, leading art workshops for immigrant women, children, seniors, and families. For her, art is both a bridge across cultures and a tool for connection, storytelling, and social change.

Her simple yet thoughtful creative process honors tradition while embracing experimentation. Saloni’s work has been exhibited in Calgary and Canmore, and she continues to collaborate with local groups to make art more inclusive, sustainable, and accessible to all.
