TARANNUM RAHNUMA

Tarannum Rahnuma (she/her) is an artist based in Calgary, Alberta. Since she was young, Tarannum has been drawn to creating art. Though she has experience working in several 2D mediums, she primarily works in acrylics on canvas. From observation of wildlife and her interests in science, Tarannum has become keenly interested in how nature can be used to represent emotions and the mind. She enjoys incorporating aspects of human anatomy and surrealism in her works. Her art reflects her life-long infatuation with the beauty of the natural world, the human body, and dreams. She has been exhibiting her artwork locally for the past five years while completing her education.

Inspired by the life and works of Santiago Ramón y Cajal, Tarannum completed a Bachelors in Neuroscience. She is currently pursuing a degree in medicine at the University of Calgary to someday understand the mind and body from both from an artistic and scientific perspective. She views art as an opportunity to explore her humanistic side through the use of imagery from literature, science, medicine, and pop culture in her works.
