KELLY BURKINSHAW

I am a Newfoundlander living in Calgary, where I went to grad school and worked in academia for many years. While I’ve always been creative, enjoying knitting, miniature painting, and producing surprise creations from whatever is at hand, I have only recently begun making fine art. In the spring of 2023, I planted four lemon seeds that I couldn’t bear to discard, and from there my love of all things plant was born (along with four trees). In my art, I use leaves from houseplants and ones I find in the wild as stamps, in order to showcase the beautiful intricacies of nature that can be uncovered from all around us if we take the time to look.
