Tiffany MacKay

I am Tiffany MacKay a Metis artist living and working in Calgary, Alberta. I was born here and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts. I worked as a Scenic Artist and Interior Designer before returning to the University of Calgary to get my Bachelors of Education where I am currently in the process of completing.

My artistic practice explores memory, emotion, and the tangible world, manifesting through various mediums, including painting, photography, sculpture, installation, and design. At the heart of my work lies a fascination with the interplay between personal history and universal human experience. Colour presented either vibrantly or with an entire absence. Colour is like memory, both a tool and a subject of exploration, revealing the emotional landscape that shapes our experiences. My creative process is a dynamic interplay between planning and spontaneity. Living with ADHD, I embrace the rapid flow of ideas while grounding them in structured production and execution. Collaboration, production, and execution form the core of my approach, using art to answer the question, “How does it feel?” My background in theatre design, with its emphasis on these core elements has profoundly shaped my artistic vision.

Inspired by personal experiences and social issues, seeking to convey the value of positive and negative emotions and the transformative power of self-understanding. I want viewers to experience the emotional depth, to feel it viscerally. My art is human connection, an intimate and public dialogue that allows me to share my unique frequency with the world.
